Today we attended a good old fashioned neighborhood potluck. What a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of too busy-ness and the technology addiction many of us are on the brink of. No one was on the cell phone, people just gabbing and get to know each other, you know like the olden golden days.
We have lived in our Spokane South Hill neighborhood for nearly 8 years. It just so happens there are alot of wonderful folks who are retired in this area and with kids still at home I have sometimes felt out of place. However our neighbors about a block away have done this potluck for the past 4 years and I must say it is really nice to meet more of my neighbors. I liked finding out what people do, how long they have lived around here, and how they are fairing this winter.
I have always truly appreciated it when anyone, for any reason invites me to their home. Hospitality is something I really admire and it is a very important ingredient in society. Honestly, I feel so much community has slipped away since I was a kid. I just wanted to share with you that maybe it's time for a good old fashioned potluck in your neck of the woods! It was very enjoyable. Except...I did eat too much!

...there's no place like your home!

What a good idea. I am going to bring this up at our next home owners association meeting. It would be nice to have a meet and greet with all of the neighbors...
Now that sounds like something I could sink my teeth into :0) Thanks for sharing,
BethAnn-Those are the best. Getting to know your neighbors is great! My sister had one on her street late summer /early fall last year, they blocked off the street and people grilled and another brought his deck fireplace, another brought his guitar, it turned out to be a great get together!
Yes, I think another one during summer would be great! A block party...block off the street, have some street games. Gonna DO IT!
Hi Beth Ann
I have to tell you that I always enjoyed a good old fashion pot luck dinner.
Good luck and success

I don't know anyone that doesn't love pot luck. It just takes someone to get it organized. Great idea.
