Spokane Real Estate Voice: Not all MOVERS are shakers!

Not all MOVERS are shakers!

I have been made aware that it would benefit all homeowners, our clients,  customers, friends and family to be very CAUTIOUS when hiring a MOVING COMPANY.

NOT ALL MOVERS ARE CREATED EQUAL.

There are increasing numbers in reports of MOVING SCAMMERS. They give low bids, have no insurance and have been known to keep peoples posessions as ransom for more payment than initially quoted.

As realtors, I think we can help raise awareness in regard to this matter, so people we service and care about don't become the victim of a shoddy mover.

The moral of the story: The cheapest bid may NOT be the best bet. REFERENCES are always a must when someone is handling all of your eartly goods.

I think the rule with anything is question why the low bid is so low. Low doesnt always equate to good!

BethAnn - that's good advice ... not just for movers, but for anything.  Watch out for the lowest bid.  It may indeed be OK, but we're always skeptical.

ALWAYS CHECK REFERENCES, OR ASK PEOPLE YOU KNOW AND TRUST WHO THEY USED!

Good advice! I'll soon be starting my blog here and the first piece of advice I'd give to get around this growing problem is, "Befriend a mover". I know, right? Ewwwww!! But, you're right- not all moving companies are the same. There are actually ethical problem solvers in my industry that work with a high degree of honesty, integrity and professionalism. And, just like in your industry, there are the not-so-professional agents. When the good guys partner with the good guys, our customers ALWAYS win!
