I show a fair number of houses each week. It gets cumbersome discussing them with buyers by address or MLS numbers, so I nick-name them as we go,
It is super fun, and my buyers all get into it! It makes each home memorable, even the ones you want to forget!
Try it- you'll like it! There are a few times I haven't done this, but I usually do.
Here are a few favotites we have come up with:
- The Mayors House
- The " essence of cat" house
- The " unkitchen" house
- The retirement home
- The White House
- The mouse house
- The Pimpin' House
- The garage sale house
- The court house
- Pottery Barn House
- Haunted House
- The monestary
- Smoke House
- The music house
- The carpet project
- Fill in the blank...
I could go on forever... Why not have fun on the journey!?

...there's no place like your home!

What a fun way to remember the homes you've shown. Thanks for sharing your tip!
Hey BethAnn,
Sounds like we all do, actually it's my clients who name the houses. That normally helps them remember better.
That's all I can think of for now, looking forward to hearing from others.
Hi BethAnn~ I had a similar post about a year ago..my favorite name of all was "Stinky Cheese House' Nothing more fun than naming those houses!
What a kick BethAnn! That does kind of happen doesn't it? A nickname for houses you've seen. I'd guess I do that even when we tour new listings...Fun Post. Have a good night.
My buyers and I do this too! It just happens.
There's nothing like being able to say "My House" after the last mortgage payment.
BethAnn:
Those names are great. I once had clients who named one particular house "the ugly house." It was the one they ended up buying. Go figure...
BethAnn...I think most buyers assign names to at least some of the houses they look at. It does make the process more memorable and enjoyable. Rather than trying to remember all the homes we show, I try to get the buyer to rank then in 1, 2, 3 order - never having more than 3 on their list. If they add one, they drop one after they are at 3. It seems to help the decdision making process.
