I know that social media has changed the face of relationships. Each day I get up now and check facebook before I even open my e-mail! That is why, we need to have an actual PLAN for staying touch with people for REAL. Not only for business purposes- but for the health of our personal relationships as well. I plan a walk or coffee date twice a week with people I have not seen in awhile. I think lunch is a good idea, but if you are watching your budget, suggest coffee and a nice stroll in a scenic area. We all need to MOVE more, so why not kill two birds with one stone. I also write several hand written notes each week. I get the best feedback on this! Put some on your desk, in your car, and next to your bed. Then you have them handy for that little thoughtful note.
Showing genuine personal concern for people is not only good for them, it is good for you. Whenever we can move outside of ourselves and give people the time of day, it does us good as well. I learn so much from what other people are going through, what makes them tick, their life experiences.
Sometimes being on the computer too much makes me feel almost toxic. I want to keep perspective that it is simply a TOOL and never a replacement for genuine relationships. The kind where you can actually hear someone laugh out loud.
Take the time each day to speak in person with the people you care about, it will enhance your life, health, and business.
